Upper Hutt
Upper Hutt is about 25 minutes' drive from Wellington. We had come to this city because of the Elvish Kingdom of Rivendell, the home of King Elrond and Princess Arwen. This heavenly land was filmed at the Kaitoke Regional Park, a few minutes north of Upper Hutt.
Out of our expectation, the Rivendell site is just a small corner in a large conservation park. Not much remain of the filming activities, except for a board providing some information on what the site looked like during shooting. Anyway, the serene environment and sound of the river murmuring nearby reminded me of the peacefulness and tranquility of Rivendell after all.
